History of the first and second war
About a thousand years ago, a war broke out between the two most influencial of the magical species; the vampires and the werewolves. This legenardy struggle over dominance almost tore the world apart, and it would have had the other species not stepped in to stop them. The Elemetalists, Sorcerers and Sorceresses, Shapeshifters, and Fey all revealed themselves to humanity and did everything in their power to stop the war. They suceeded, but at a price. Much of humanity had been annihilated, and the small fraction left were terrified that the world was filled with creatures who could do them harm. It took a while, but the majority of humanity came around, becoming a minority species. The creatures all began to segrigate to colonies of their own kind, and they lived on in peace.
Recently stirrings of war have started once more, the vampires and werewolves at ends again. It seems like this war is unavoidable, and everyone began to take sides. A few people, however, refused to take sides and started a rebel group. The rebels have slowly been gaining power, their main focus is a peeaceful end to the war. Some of the rebels decided that wasn't enough. In a twisted attempt to keep the war down for good, some decided the goal was overpowering and dominating the vamps and weres themselves.
The Elementalists were created when humanity started to become civilized. They are basic protectors of the earth, and control the four basic elements; Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. One Elementalist has control over all of the elements, and there is an additional person for each one. Thare are rumors that more Elementalists were born as the ages dragged on but none have been found. The first five survived by blending in with stereotypes through the ages; Gods and Goddess, angels, alchemists. Now that they're out in the open, they're just seen as powerful beings who hold sway over the earth.
The shapeshifters were created by the Elementalists to help protect the animals on Earth. An average shifter can morph into three different animals on command, but they tend to be a tad like what they're protecting. Shifters have a tendency to be wild and dangerous, and they're completely willing to fight in the war. A handful went with each of the powers, but many went to the rebels. They're too stubborn to go into hiding. Shifters are mortal and live the same lifespan as a human.
The fey have existed since the beginning of time. They're very peaceful and have powers over ice and the sun. When they are near iron, their powers wane until they can't be used. If they're around iron too much, their powers vanish entirely. The fey want the world to live in harmony and they work hard to try to attain that goal. They have an average lifespan of thirty years.
These are your basic witches from the witch trials. The more they study the more powerful they become. The top two magic users, Dominik Verona and Mallorie Cartwrite, have attained immortality. Their pupils are slowly learning the arts of casting, and they may one day attain immortality themselves. The sorcerers and sorceresses don't want the war because it threatens their own existance, and that is the only reason why they're starting to fight themselves. They take all sides depending on their own personal beliefs.
The first vampires were bitten by a rabid bat. There was an epidemic amongst the winged creatures, killing the few people who were attacked. However, it manifested itself in two of its victims, bonding with their DNA and creating a new species. Maliki Grey and Sonja Faye became known as the King and Queen of the vampires, slowly expanding their numbers until vampires were one of the main powers in the world.
Around the same time the bats went crazy, a pack of timberland wolves lost themsevles as well. The result of their attacks, same as the bats, normally ended in death except for two. Rafe Taylor and Shea Klemence bonded with the wolf DNA, creating the other power species. Werewolves appear human unless under the full moon, when they morph to their more wolf like counterparts. They also began to bolster their numbers, seeing the vampires as a threat. The only weres who have powers outside of morphing. The King has hypnosis, and the King and Queen both have seduction. Weres have the same life span as vampires, but they are much more mortal. They can die of bloodloss and mortal wounds.
The humans all belong to the rebel group if they aren't in hiding. They all train fiercely to stand a chance against the other races, and have a lifespan of around eighty years. They're seen as fodder to most vampires.
